Wick Lifeboat was paged shortly after 1pm to reports from a passing vessel of a diver found in the water who was in an unconscious state.
The Coastguard search and rescue helicopter from Inverness was chartered to assist with the incident, attending the scene but being stood down upon arrival. The diver was taken into harbour by Wick lifeboat before being passed on to personnel from the Scottish Ambulance Service.
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “We received a call at 1335 hours today from the Coastguard to attend an incident at Wick harbour. We dispatched two ambulances to the scene.”
A police spokesman confirmed they were made aware of the incident around 1.45pm by the Coastguard.
