Oban lifeboat launches to becalmed yacht

An Oban lifeboat was launched yesterday afternoon to a yacht becalmed west of Bach Island.

Crews were alerted to the incident at the south west tip of the Isle of Kerrera, involving a 12 metre yacht with two people on board, at 3.39pm.

A tow was set up and the vessel was brought to safety.

With the assistance of Oban’s Coastguard Rescue Team, the yacht was berthed at the transit marina by 5.22pm.

Oban lifeboat then returned to station, ready for service again by 5.39pm.
