The tiny community of Morvern saw a record turnout for their Highland Games on Saturday.
Around 1,000 people attended the games in their spectacular location overlooking the Sound of Mull at Knock Park in Lochaline.
Organiser Riona Whyte said those with long memories in the village couldn’t ever remember such gate numbers, and she put this down the social media accounts instigated for the event.
She said: “This attracted exhibitors from Skye and Mull and visitors from all over. We took in around £4,000 in donations, with profits all going back into the games for next year.”
The high attendance numbers translated into healthy turnouts for the track and field and heavyweight events particularly among the men.
Local track and field champion was Cameron Bolton of Lochaline, with the Open athletics champion James Carrie, a regular visitor to the area.
In the ladies’ events, overall champion was visitor Megan Roberts.
This year’s chieftain was Angus Robertson, retiring factor of the nearby Ardtornish estate.
Mrs Whyte said: “He has always been a great supporter of the games, we wanted to give him the honour.”
Local Highland dancers put on a display and the Mull and Iona Pipe Band entertained the crowds.
