Fire crews from Aviemore, Kingussie, Ballater and Newtonmore battled a 500m high wildfire in the Cairngorms mountains yesterday.
The wildfire took place at around 2.23pm between Loch Morlich and Rothiemurchus burning through farming heather.
A spokeswoman said: “Crews including two pump appliances and a forestry unit attended the scene.
Crews have been busy at a wildfire between Loch Morlich & Rothiemurchus today. Sadly started by a camp fire that had not been properly extinguished. 500m x 200m damaged. “The blaze was caused by a camp fire not being properly extinguished.”
After spending over four hours on site, fire crews stepped down at 7.09pm.
