Police in the Skye and Lochalsh area are urging local residents to be on their guard after a series of reports from local residents about people attending unannounced at properties in the area.
Concerned residents have reported these unannounced callers offering to buy scrap metal or old vehicles in the Lochcarron, Shieldaig, Applecross and Torridon areas.
Constable Craig Allan said: “We have received reports from concerned residents about people acting suspiciously and approaching their property.
“On each occasion they have been offering to buy old vehicles or scrap metal.
“Our advice is not to engage in a deal with anyone who arrives on your doorstep unannounced.
“Instead decline as politely as you can and contact police on 101 if you want to pass on your concerns.”
