A dozen passengers had a lucky escape yesterday after a skip fell from a passing lorry and crashed into the side of their minibus.
The silver Peugeot minibus, which was carrying some children, was stationary at the Tomich junction of the A9 near Invergordon when the collision occurred.
The crash occurred after one of several skips loaded onto the back of a lorry became dislodged and fell off upon turning into the junction; colliding with the rear window of the stationary minibus just after midday.
Emergency services were first alerted to the incident at 12.15pm with police officers sent to the scene alongside paramedics from the ambulance service.
Three ambulances were sent as a precaution alongside an immediate care doctor to treat any injured passengers at the scene; however, no-one was reported injured as a result of the crash.
A spokesman from the ambulance service said: “We received a call at 1218 hours to attend a road traffic collision in Tomich.
“We dispatched three ambulances and a BASICS doctor to the scene.”
The road remained closed for a period of time to allow emergency services to clear the wreckage; with motorists able to gain access to the junction shortly before 2pm.
Following the crash, a second minibus arrived at the scene a short time later to transport all 12 passengers away from the scene.
This incident follows on from a string of accidents at the junction by Invergordon in recent months.
