A total of 238 affordable homes are planned for the Badenoch and Strathspey over the next five years.
Among the first to be completed will be 23 units at Breachan Court in Grantown-on-Spey.
Highland Council hopes that 15 council homes and eight mid-market rental properties will also shortly be available for local families.
Councillor Bill Lobban, chairman of the Badenoch and Strathspey area committee said: “Affordable housing is a vital building block of our local economy, together with employment opportunities and schools.
“I am delighted to see these new homes becoming available in Grantown and a number scheduled across the Strath in the coming months and years.”
