Caithness residents are being encouraged to have their say on the impending redesign of health and social care services in the region.
Summary documents containing the proposals for the creation of care hub and villages in Wick and Thurso are currently being sent out to local homes – with residents being encouraged to complete an online form providing feedback on the proposals.
Michelle Johnstone, NHS Highland’s area manager North, said: “The consultation feedback survey is one way to get peoples’ views on the proposals.
“But you don’t have to wait until they are being sent out. A version of the feedback form has been available online since the consultation started and hard copies can also be printed of or requested. We also welcome letters or phone calls.
“All the feedback including the large number of meetings will help to build a picture about the proposals in general, as well as specific elements such as whether to move GP practices into the hubs.”
Meanwhile, NHS Highland staff were on hand during the freshers event at UHI North Highland College in Thurso this week, inviting students to test the live demo of NHS Near Me – the new video consultancy app.
A number of meetings will also be taking place across the region to discuss the plans including discussions with Highland Senior Citizens Network at the Norseman Hotel and the Caithness Diabetes Group at the Nethercliffe Hotel in Wick as well as the independent providers Care@Home Group in Caithness.
Caithness Councillors will also be holding a meeting on Monday at Caithness General Hospital from 2pm.
