The death of an elderly man following an incident in a quiet residential area of Oban is being treated as suspicious by police.
Officers were called to the Dunollie area at 9.40am, where a 32-year-old man was arrested.
A police spokeswoman said: “Around 9.40am on Monday October 1, police were called to a report of an elderly man being seriously injured during an altercation with another man in Columba Court, Oban.
“Emergency services attended and the victim was taken by ambulance to the Lorn and Islands Hospital where he died. Officers are treating his death as suspicious. The victim is still to be formally identified and a post mortem examination will take place in due course to establish the exact cause of death.
“A 32-year-old man was arrested at the scene and inquiries are ongoing.
“Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact Oban CID via 101, quoting incident number 0858 of Monday October 1.”
