A Corpach man has been cleared of causing an ex-girlfriend fear and alarm. John MacLellan had been on trial at Fort William Sheriff Court, accused of a breach of the peace by alarming former partner Jade MacArthur. It had been alleged that MacLellan, 30, had stopped his taxi when he saw Miss MacArthur, her boyfriend and four children walking. Giving evidence, she told the court: “We had a heated argument and he was shouting at me. “I shouted back at him. My son, aged seven, started crying.” Asked why she had reported the matter to the police, she told the court it had been her current partner who had wanted to her to. She added: “He made a threat to Craig. He said ‘your time is up’ to Craig.” At this point in the proceedings, the procurator fiscal told the court she would not be pursuing the case any further. Sheriff Eilidh MacDonald told MacLellan, of Clerk Drive, Corpach, that he had been found not guilty and sent him out of the dock.
