The owner of an Oban cafe was killed in a car crash early yesterday.
Julie Anne Goodman, known as Joolz, died at the scene when her red Citroen C1 which was travelling north on the A816 Oban to Lochgilphead road collided with a VW Tiguan travelling south.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash, which took place at around 7.30am near Oude Dam between Kilmelford and Kilninver.
Mrs Goodman, 53, ran the Little Potting Shed Cafe in Oban with husband Russell.
Yesterday a post from Mr Goodman on the cafe’s Facebook page said: “Hi everyone, the cafe will be closed until further notice – please accept my apologies.”
Oban-based councillor Julie McKenzie said: “I am really sorry to hear this and would like to send my heartfelt condolences to Joolz’s family and friends. As a well-known face in the community, she will be greatly missed.”
People added their condolences on Mr Goodman’s post.

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal following the crash.
The 26-year-old man who was driving the VW Tiguan was taken by ambulance to hospital in Oban. His injuries were not thought by medical staff to be serious.

Constable Stuart Campbell of Oban Road Policing Unit, said: “Although we have spoken to a number of people who came to assist following the crash, I am keen to hear from the driver of a large dark coloured 4×4 vehicle in the area just prior to the crash.
“This vehicle was not involved in the crash or anything like that, it’s just that we believe they may have seen at least one of the cars involved and may have information that could assist our investigation.”
Information can be passed to officers at Oban Police Station via 101.
