Nairn police are appealing for information following a fire-raising incident in the Church Street area of the town yesterday evening.
Two bins were discovered alight and the fire had spread to exterior panels of an adjacent building at around 11.55pm.
The fire, which is believed to have been deliberately set, was extinguished by the fire service and nobody was injured.
Sergeant Steven Maclennan said: “Deliberately setting fires is inherently dangerous. You have very little control over how it may develop and what the consequences could be.
“Our inquiries are ongoing and any information, even if it was something you didn’t think was notable at the time, could be useful in helping us establish the full circumstances.
“Anyone with information can contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference NM2913/18, or you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
