A pair of hillwalkers have been found “safe and well” this evening after spending around nine hours lost in the Cairngorms.
The men were trekking near Ben Macdui when they got lost shortly before 2pm due to not having a map or a compass.
Mountain rescue teams were mobilised in the early evening to search for them on Cairngorm plateau amid “exceptionally windy” weather conditions.
However they were found shortly before 11pm with team members escorting them back to base.
Team members have located the missing walkers. We are delighted to say they are safe and well and being escorted back to base. Not a great night to be in the hills!
