Voting is off to a flying start to find an official Sutherland flag, with hundreds of people registering their favourite from four designs in the first 24 hours.
With voting only open to those living and working in the county, organisers say the positive start clearly shows the widespread engagement of the community.
A spokeswoman said: “The public are asked to chose from four designs features a wide range of symbols that between them represent Sutherland’s ancient heraldry, famous military heritage, Viking origins of its name, traditional and re-introduced wildlife, gold and purple scenery, Flow Country, dark skies and coastal topography.
“All these designs met heraldic criteria and the guidelines on good flag design that were provided to all entrants when the competition launched. These guidelines ensure a flags visibility and its subsequent ability to function effectively.”
Voting will be open until November 26 and can be made online or writing to the organisers.
