Police are appealing for information after a man was assaulted in the Highlands after he stopped to offer directions.
It happened on the A96 on Friday at around 5.15pm, close to the United Reform Church.
The victim was walking westbound when a silver/grey-coloured, SUV type vehicle stopped and the occupants asked the victim for directions.
It is understood that the victim leaned inside the vehicle and was punched to the eye, which caused a laceration.
The vehicle then drove off in the queue of traffic, turning towards the Forres direction. The road was busy with traffic and officers would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time.
A police spokesman said: “Anyone with any information should contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting NM/3044/18 or speak to any police officers.”
