Councillors have granted funding towards establishing a community development manager’s post in Dornoch.
Dornoch Area Community Interest Company (DACICA) was set up in 2007 as a voluntary organisation to enhance and develop the town’s economy and community.
Now it wants to employ a full-time community development manager for two years to focus on promoting the Dornoch Hub.
The SSE Beatrice Fund has put £50,000 towards the post, and now councillors have agreed to award £20,000 from the Dornoch Common Good Fund.
DACICA will also contribute £3,873 from their own funds to support the new post.
Sutherland County committee chairman Richard Gale said: “I’m happy to support this application for funding to go towards this new post. DACICA has a strong history of delivering projects in the town and I believe the money from the Common Good Fund over the next two years will be well spent.”
