Police in Fort William are appealing for information in connection with the theft of a Poppy Scotland collecting tin from the Co-op supermarket in Kilmallie Road in Caol.
UPDATE: The charity tin has been found.
A statement said: “Police in Fort William are pleased to report that the Poppy Scotland collection tin reported missing from a shop in the Caol area has now been recovered and it would appear that no donations have been stolen.
“Members of the public are thanked for their support of this enquiry.”
The tin appears to have been removed sometime between Friday, October 26 and Monday, November 12.
It was reported missing on Saturday when a representative of the charity arrived to collect the tin.
Constable Brian Heriot said: “Theft is never acceptable but stealing from a charity is particularly inexcusable.
“We are working to identify whoever is responsible and would ask anyone who can help to get in touch.
“We appreciate that this is a fairly broad timeframe but I would ask anyone who believes they have seen anything of note to call us on 101, using reference NP4308/18. Information can also be left anonymously by using Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
