An island organisation hopes to bring together tourism businesses, tomorrow, to mark an the next stage in its plan to develop the destination.
The event, Skye on a Plate is organised by SkyeConnect is being promoted as an opportunity for food producers and tourism providers to learn about some of the latest developments and trends in the sector.
SkyeConnect chairwoman and owner of the Three Chimneys restaurant, Shirley Spear said: “Skye on a Plate marks the next phase in the development of SkyeConnect as the area’s destination management organisation.
“We have exciting development and marketing plans and want as many individual tourist businesses to join us on this journey.
“To progress our plans we need to access public funds but this requires match funding from private income.
“Membership of Skyeconnect will come with a range of benefits including access to public relations and marketing support.
“This will allow us to proactively promote all the great things that are happening on Skye and the surrounding area.”
The event is being hosted at the Sligachan Hotel by owner, and SkyeConnect board member, John Coghill: “At Sligachan we are not just at the geographical heart of the island we want to be at the heart of a new future for tourism on Skye.
“Bringing people together for events like ‘Skye on a Plate’ can only help in making our industry more connected. SkyeConnect is about making those connections and developing a consistently high-quality offering for visitors.”
