Two women were taken to hospital following a house fire in Thurso earlier today.
The casualties, one in her eighties and one in her fifties, were given oxygen therapy at the scene before ambulance crews took them to Caithness General Hospital to be checked over.
A spokeswoman for the fire service said: “The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was alerted at 11.20am on Wednesday November 21 to reports of a house fire in Thurso.
“Operations Control immediately mobilised three fire engines to Ormlie Road where firefighters extinguished the fire within the kitchen.
“Crews provided oxygen therapy to two casualties before transferring them into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service. They were thereafter taken to hospital for precautionary checks.
“Firefighters left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe.”
A spokesman for the ambulance service said: “We received a call at 11.22am to attend an incident on Ormlie Road in Thurso.
“We dispatched one ambulance and an ambulance car to the scene. We transported two female patients to Caithness General Hospital.”
