A 66-year-old man has died after a campervan fire.
The unidentified male was inside his motorhome on Station Drive in Ardersier when it was found to be ablaze just after 7.30pm on Friday.
Police have confirmed that a man’s body was discovered within the remains of the vehicle.
Several fire crews were sent to the scene to extinguish the blaze.
Rab Middlemiss, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service’s local senior officer for the Highland area, said: “The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was alerted at 7.38pm on Friday, November 23, to reports of a campervan on fire near Station Drive, Ardersier.
“Operations control mobilised a number of fire engines and firefighters extinguished the flames.
“Sadly, a man was found to have passed away at the scene.
“Our thoughts are with all of those who are affected at this time.”
Detective Inspector Eddie Ross added: “Our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends at this sad time.
“Our enquiries into this incident are ongoing in conjunction with the Scottish Fire & Rescue Service. However, we do not believe there to be any suspicious circumstances.
“A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
Councillor Trish Robertson, for Culloden and Ardersier, said: “It’s horrible what has happened. My thoughts and condolences go out to his friends and family.”
