Celebrations for Tiree Music Festival’s 10th anniversary will kick off in style at a special launch event in January.
Tiree: A Toast to 10 Years of Tiree Music Festival will take place at Celtic Connections on January 18.
This one-off night will be hosted by Tiree bands Skerryvore and Trail West at Glasgow’s Old Fruitmarket where a number of very special guests will appear alongside brand-new collaborations from musicians who have played the TMF stages over the last 10 years.
TMF10’s line-up will also be officially announced in spectacular fashion as part of this celebratory night and remaining tickets will also be released on general sale.
Daniel Gillespie, Skerryvore founding member and Artistic Director for Tiree Music Festival, said: “It’s an incredible feeling to be looking forward to celebrating our 10th Tiree Music Festival. What started as a bit of a dream for myself and co-founder Stewart MacLennan back in 2010 has become an annual celebration and calendar-favourite for so many people.
“We started the festival to share our island’s amazing natural beauty and showcase it’s vibrant musical offering with visitors from all over the world. Now 10 years on, with nine national event awards under our belts and a devoted army of visitors, volunteers and artists who come back year on year, we are so excited to unveil our 10th edition – a TMF we promise will be our biggest and most memorable yet.”
Stewart MacLennan, community director for Tiree Music Festival, said: “TMF10 is going to be incredible. To mark our 10th festival we will also be revealing a number of exciting new announcements in the lead up to the weekend festival too.”
The inaugural Tiree Music Festival took place in July 2010 and was attended by a capacity crowd of 600. The annual event has since flourished with an increased 2000-strong capacity – an attendance that is 3 times the population of the island.
Artists across the years have included The Fratellis, Dougie MacLean, Sharon Shannon, The Levellers, Capercaillie, Sandi Thom and Eddi Reader.
