The Coastguard Operations Centre in Stornoway has today been aiding two broken down vessels off Iona and Benbecula.
Oban lifeboat is still currently on scene with one of the vessels, located approximately 22 miles south-west of Iona. An initial call was received at 10.46am with the vessel carrying six persons experiencing engine failure.
The Oban lifeboat is expected to return with the vessel under tow to Oban Harbour around 8.30pm this evening.
A second broken down vessel, this time facing problems with its propeller, was reported to the Coastguard at 1.05pm. The vessel received a tow from a local fishing vessel off of the east coast of Benbecula.
Benbecula coast rescue team assisted by standing by at Kallin Harbour where the fishing vessel, with two persons on board, was towed into. Efforts have now shifted to removing the debris which fouled the propeller.
