A 57-year-old female pedestrian has sustained serious injuries and is in a serious condition in hospital after being struck by a car earlier today on the A9 slip road by the Raigmore Interchange in Inverness.
The incident occurred as the pedestrian crossed the busy entrance to the A9 southbound around 1.20pm this afternoon. A black Mazda 6 car was involved in the incident.
Police and ambulance personnel raced to the scene to aid the woman, who was then taken to Raigmore Hospital where she remains in a serious condition this evening.
The road, which had been shut earlier in the day, reopened shortly before 6.55pm after officers conducted investigations into the incident.

Road Policing Sergeant Gus Murray said: “Our enquiries into this collision are ongoing and at an early stage.
“We would urge anyone who may have witnessed the collision but has not yet spoken to police to come forward.
“We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam footage which may help with our enquiries.
“Anyone with information can contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 1714 of February 20.”
