Police have confirmed that the 57-year-old, who was rescued from Stob Coire nan Lochan along with a 49-year-old man yesterday afternoon, has died. An extensive mountain rescue operation was launched on Friday night after the pair failed to return with other members of their group. They were found at around midday, both with hypothermia, after they spent the night on the mountain. They had become lost overnight. They were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and Belford Hospital in Fort William. Both climbers had travelled to the Glencoe area from Nottinghamshire as part of a larger group. His next of kin are aware. A police spokeswoman said: “Our thoughts are with the man’s family at this sad time.”
