Samaritans cyclist Steve Johnson is to pay a visit to Thurso Branch as part of 1600 mile journey.
A long-distance charity cyclist is to visit the Samaritans branch in Thurso as part of his 1,600-mile journey to Shetland.
Steve Johnson began his journey from Hastings in Sussex using a 35-year-old Raleigh ‘Classic Tourer’, with the aim of reaching the charity's most northern branch in Lerwick.
Mr Johnson will visit the Caithness branch on Tuesday, May 21, before heading north to Orkney.
His tour was inspired to recruit additional Samaritans volunteers and to raise vital funds for the charity.
He said: “The Samaritans provides a critical life-line for people who are suicidal, anxious or who simply need someone to talk to.
"Volunteers based in over two hundred branches across the British Isles answer phones, reply to texts and emails, and speak to people face to face. Anyone who can spare fifteen hours a month for this vital work is welcome to join us”.
