Construction work on a new care home facility in Fortrose is due to get under way next month.

Theproject in Fortrose is to provide a 40-bed facility worth in the region of £4million, and is scheduled to be fully operational by spring time next year.

The formation of the brand new facility is expected to create around 50 jobs in the local community and has been welcomed by constituency MSP Kate Forbes.

Ms Forbes, who earlier this week met with Parklands managing director Ron Taylor at the site of the care home, said: “There is no doubt that the Black Isle needs a care home.

“Too often, older people have to move to Inverness in order to get residential care.

“After a challenging start, I am so pleased that there is finally going to be a care home in Fortrose.”

Last week, Parklands appointed Aberdeen-based Chap Group to build the £4 million facility on Ness Road, in the Black Isle village.

Parklands are also currently developing a £6.5m care hub in Inverness, comprising a 48-bed home and 16 assisted living suites, alongside the Black Isle project.

Parklands managing director Ron Taylor said: “This will be our ninth care home and a further sign of our continued investment in the Highlands.

“It is also an important investment for the Black Isle, not only in terms of the economic benefits it will generate but because of the much-needed care services it will provide for the area at a time when the elderly population in the Highlands is growing.”
