People in a Highland village were told to leave their homes on Sunday night after concern was raised about a potential explosive device. It is reported to be a suspected wartime ordnance, caught and taken home by a fisherman. Police were called to the street in Caol, near Fort William, just before 8pm. Officers advised people in houses on the odd-numbered side of Banavie Road to leave. The Royal Navy’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit has been called in. A police spokesman said: “It’s not an evacuation, we are advising people at the scene. “The EOD is expected to arrive there shortly.”
