An elderly passenger was last night evacuated by the Stornoway coastguard search and rescue helicopter after reports were received of the casualty feeling unwell.
A call was received by the Coastguard Operations Centre in Stornoway at 5.13pm, with Rescue 948 from Stornoway deployed to provide assistance.
A spokesman said: “We have received reports from a cruise vessel of a passenger requiring evacuation due to illness.
“A winchman was lowered down and the casualty was uplifted around 7.50pm.”
The casualty was taken to Raigmore Hospital.
Their condition is not known.
