Police have issued an appeal for witnesses following a serious accident in the Highlands.
A man riding a BMW motorcycle crashed on the A838 north of Lairg at around 6.15pm yesterday.
The road was closed for around five and a half hours to allow road policing officers to carry out an investigation at the scene – which was around five miles south of the Overscaig House Hotel by Loch Shin.
The 77-year-old was seriously injured and taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.
Sergeant Gus Murray said: “Our inquiries into this collision are ongoing and I would urge anyone who believe s they have information which could assist to make contact.
“You can contact police by calling 101, quoting reference NE2302/19.
“The road closure required a lengthy diversion and I would thank drivers for their patience while we carried out our work.”
