A group of overdue canoeists were traced this evening “safe and well” after a search operation was launched to come to their assistance on Loch Ness.
The Loch Ness lifeboat and Inverness coast rescue team were tasked to assist around 5.50pm, however, by 6.20pm the canoeists had been located.
Searches focused on an area of coastline between Dores and Aldourie.
A coastguard spokesman said: “The lifeboat from Loch Ness was launched around 5.50pm to assist in the search for some overdue canoeists, alongside the Inverness coast rescue team.
“The canoeists were located safe and well around 6.19pm after concerns were raised by their contacts.
“It appears the group were just behind schedule and there were no issues to report back.”
