A north day centre run by volunteers dazzled care chiefs during an inspection and has been given a glowing report.
The Laurandy Day Centre in Wick is operated by the Braehead Charity and provides a range of day services to 24 older people to help them live independently.
It offers a “comprehensive” programme of social activities alongside support to reduce or prevent hospital admissions and care home placements.
Staff from The Care Inspectorate visited the centre in March and released their report yesterday.
They graded its quality of care and support, and the quality of its management as “excellent” – the highest of six available grades.
Its inspection report noted that the staff were “highly motivated and compassionate” and that the facility has a “relaxed, welcoming and peaceful environment.”
