Pupils from Caol Primary School had great fun making some mysterious mixtures in the lab when Generation Science, a touring programme of science shows delivered by Edinburgh Science, visited its school yesterday.
The chemistry workshop, Get Fizzy was sponsored by Liberty British Aluminium, and is for beginners where pupils learn about solids, liquids, gases and fizzes and how some mixtures can react and even go bang.
Head teacher Steven Hamilton at Caol Primary School, said: “We are delighted to welcome the Generation Science tour to the school. Get Fizzy is a hands-on workshop that makes science fun and enjoyable.
“For some of our pupils, it is their first ever introduction to chemistry: we hope it will be a very exciting first experience.”
Liberty British Aluminium representative Tom Uppington said: “We are proud to continue our support for the fantastic Generation Science programme provided by Edinburgh Science.
“These fun and innovative workshops encourage young pupils to gain an interest in STEM subjects and hopefully inspire the next generation of scientists.”
Joan Davidson, Generation Science manager said: “We are delighted to be touring this year to Caol Primary School.
“We will visit over 600 schools in Scotland over the spring and summer terms to show young learners the wonder of science and its real world applications.
“We aim to improve the provision of science education in Scottish primary schools, to bring science to life in the classroom and to educate and inspire young learners in science.”
