Hundreds of homes were left without power after 200 tyres caught fire on a Highland farm.
Firefighters remain at the scene of the blaze, which broke out at Auchernack Farm near Grantown shortly after 4pm.
The crews had been called after about 200 hundred tyres, used to construct a silage pit, caught fire.
Two appliances from Grantown were joined by crews from Aviemore and Tomintoul at the scene after receiving the distress call at 4.35pm.
As crews battled the flames for more than two hours, engineers from Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) disconnected the power from the overhead lines as a result of the smoke plumes.
More than 400 properties were left without electricity for around 90 minutes.
An SSE spokesman said: “The fire service contacted us just after 5pm to let us know someone had set fire to tyres underneath the overhead line.
“For safety reasons, we isolated that part of the network and that affected 419 customers.
“By about 6.30pm we had the majority back on supply although there were about 31 houses which remained off until it was safe for us to put the line back on.”
No people or animals were injured as a result of the fire.
