Rescuers abseiled down the UK’s highest mountain to take to safety a lone climber stuck on the north-east side of Ben Nevis.
The man, in his 30s, was climbing Little Tower when he became crag fast about 3000 feet up the mountain.
The Inverness-based coastguard search and rescue helicopter was unable to reach him because of the low cloud base but instead members of Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team abseiled down and took the climber to safety nearly six hours after he raised the alarm around noon on Sunday.

The helicopter then took the climber off but he was uninjured.
John Stevenson, leader of Lochaber MRT, said:”He had had a wee fall earlier and also got a bit lost in the mist.
“He just felt he could not carry on and did the sensible thing in calling for help. He was not quite where he thought he was – but not that far away.
“So we abseiled down and got him off. Other than wounded pride he was otherwise OK.”
