A strike involving Highland air traffic controllers has been suspended following a revised pay offer.
Airports at Inverness, Dundee, Benbecula, Stornoway, Sumburgh and Kirkwall first shut on May 23 and were due to do so again on June 12.
The Prospect union is seeking a 10% pay increase for staff and announced this morning its planned second day of action will be suspended while a new offer from Highlands and Islands Airports Limited (Hial), who operate the airports, is considered.
Richard Hardy, Prospect national secretary, said: “Prospect has received a revised pay offer from HIAL which we will be putting to our members for consideration.
“In light of this we are suspending the strike action scheduled for June 12.
“Action short of a strike will continue.”
Hial, a public corporation wholly owned by Scottish ministers, previously insisted it is bound by Government pay policy and cannot negotiate a separate settlement.
Nicola Sturgeon earlier urged unions and airport management to resolve their dispute so that another Highlands and Islands air traffic controller strike could be avoided.
