The scenic Bealach na Ba hill road on the North Coast 500 was yesterday closed after a lorry became stuck on the tight stretch.
As a result of the incident, motorists were forced to divert via the coast road – a route just shy of 32 miles.
The route remained closed for just short of four-and-a-half hours as the recovery of the vehicle was arranged.
The incident was first reported to police around 12.45pm before the route was cleared at 5.12pm, allowing traffic to pass.
The road, which spans from Tornapress near Kishorn to Applecross, is visited by thousands each year as they navigate their way around the famed North Coast 500 route.
A police spokesman has said that no injuries were sustained.
