LIVE BLOG: Police in stand off with Greenpeace activists protesting on Highland oil rig

Officers are reportedly “poised” to take action to remove activists protesting on a Highland oil rig.
A statement from Greenpeace said the protesters have been told by workers that the rig will be lowered 20m into the sea to allow police to access by boat.
Rosie Rogers, senior climate campaigner at Greenpeace UK, said: “We are determined to resist removal as long as BP remains determined to drill for oil.”
The protest began on Sunday night when two members of the organisation boarded the rig in the Cromarty Firth.
They have since appeared in court to deny a charge of breaching the peace and have been replaced by other activists on the rig.
