A motorcyclist has been seriously injured in a horror crash on a scenic Highland road.
The motorbike and a pick-up truck collided about one mile north of Lairg shortly after noon.
The road has been closed while emergency services deal with the casualty and officers carry out an investigation.
UPDATE:
A police spokesman said: “We received a call to reports of a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the A836 approximately one-mile north of the village of Lairg.
“A pick up and a motorbike are the two-vehicles involved.
“A road closure was put in place to allow officers to investigate, with relevant diversion routes put in place to allow motorists to continue their journeys.”
Lengthy diversions have been put in place, with those travelling on the A836 Cromarty to Caithness route facing a diversion of more than two hours via Golspie, Helmsdale and Syre.
We can advise that the A836 is currently closed in both directions around one mile north of Lairg due to a road traffic collision.
Emergency services are currently on the scene.

Those heading north west on the A838 from the Lairg area towards Laxford Bridge also face a diversion of roughly 58miles.
An ambulance spokesman said: “We received a call today at 12.13pm to attend a road traffic collision on the A836 outside Lairg.
“We dispatched two ambulances and two basic responders to the scene.”
