Police in Orkney have found the body of a man during searches for a missing 80-year-old pensioner.
James Scott was initially reported missing from his home in Rousay on yesterday afternoon, last being seen around 2pm.
The pensioner suffers from dementia and is registered blind.
Officers today confirmed the body of a man had been discovered.
A spokeswoman said: “While carrying out searches for an 80-year-old man reported missing on the island of Rousay, police have found the body of a man during this afternoon.
“The man is still to be formally identified but the family of James Scott have been informed.”
She added there were “no apparent suspicious circumstances” surrounding the death.
The news came just hours after coastguard rescue teams were dispatched to assist police in searching for Mr Scott.
Local residents were also urged by the force to check their garages and outhouses.
