Two hikers were rescued in “pea soup” conditions from a Skye beauty spot featured in Hollywood blockbusters by rescuers pinpointing their mobile phone.
The two men, believed to be French tourists, phoned for help about 1,500 feet up the Quiraing.
Thirteen members of Skye Mountain Rescue Team set off around 1pm on Monday.
Neil Urquhart, leader of Skye MRT, said the stranded pair were located in under an hour by using a search app on their mobile phone to give a GPS grid reference.
“The conditions were like pea soup – visibility was down to about 20 metres and they just go lost. They didn’t know where they were,” said Mr Urquhart.
“We walked them down. They were cold and wet, but in good spirits. They had no means of navigation.
“If you are going out on the hills, please ensure you have a map and compass and also check the weather forecast as conditions can quickly deteriorate.”
