A world-renowned chef is coming to the Highlands as the star guest at the fifth annual Taste North festival.
French celebrity chef Jean Christophe Novelli will take centre stage at the John O’Groats event showcasing his skills to a packed audience through a number of live demonstrations.
The one-day event being held on Sunday, October 6, will bring local traders together to showcase the very best of Scottish produce.
Mr Novelli said he is looking forward to tucking into local delicacies. He said: “I am honoured to have been invited to take part in the Taste North festival this year. Most exciting, for me as a chef, is to come and sample and experience the rich tapestry of food and drink from the area and meet the producers and makers behind it.”
The events annual baking competition, The Taste North Challenge, will also take place again this year giving bakers the chance to win outstanding prizes across two separate categories.
Meanwhile, Mr Novelli has been tasked with choosing the winner of the distinguished competition.
A number of chef demonstrations, cocktail master classes and workshops will be taking place to delight the crowds, with the Exhibitor’s Market offering attendees the opportunity to sample local food and drink and crafts from across Caithness and Sutherland.
The event, which attracted around 1,700 visitors last year, is being organized by tourism cooperative Venture North, with cornerstone annual funding by the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority.”
Venture North chairwoman, Catherine Macleod said: “Taste North 2019 is looking even better than ever with more producers, more space, more delicious food and drink, more amazing artisan craft, more family activities and more prize-winning baking.”
