Police in the Black Isle have launched an appeal for information after a teenage boy was assaulted.
The incident, which took place around 9.30pm on Tuesday, happened in the Manse Brae area of Rosemarkie.
As a result, a 15-year-old boy sustained a head injury which required further treatment at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.
Investigating officer, detective constable John Beverley, said: “We are carrying out inquiries to establish the full circumstances of this incident.
“These inquiries are at an early stage and anyone who can help is urged to come forward.”
Police are also interested in tracing a car that they believe could be key to assisting their investigation.
Det Const Beverley added: “A small dark-coloured car is believed to have been in the area around that time and we would ask anyone who could help us identify that vehicle or its occupants to come forward as they have information which could assist our inquiries.”
