A Coastguard search and rescue helicopter yesterday assisted in the medical evacuation of an injured crew member from a North Sea platform.
The crew member sustained an injury to their coccyx after falling aboard the platform, situated approximately 92 nautical miles north east of Sumburgh.
As a result, Rescue 900 was tasked to transfer the casualty to the Clickimin Landing Site, with both the Lerwick and Sumburgh coast rescue teams providing assistance.
A coastguard spokesman said: “We received a call at 1.30pm to provide assistance in the med evac of a crew member from a platform east of Sumburgh.
“The casualty has been transferred to Clickimin for transfer for further medical care.”
