A flood alert has been issued as heavy and thundery showers develop over Scottish skies.
The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) have warned to potential flooding with fourteen alerts instated across the country, five of them within the Highlands and Grampian.
A statement said: “Heavy and thundery showers may develop in the west of the area through Tuesday afternoon and evening, although not all places will see them.
“This may lead to localised flooding from surface water and small watercourses. The greatest risk is if these occur over built-up areas and the transport network.
“Possible impacts could include flooding of low-lying land, roads, properties and disruption to travel.”
Weather warning
The Met Office has also announced a yellow weather warning today that will come into effect today at midday until midnight.
People have been reminded to be vigilant as “there is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds.”
