A female walker was conveyed to hospital yesterday after falling at a popular Highland attraction.
The woman was touring Smoo Caves in Durness when she fell and injured herself.
HM coastguard were first notified of the incident at 3.21pm conveying members of the Durness, Melvich and Kinlochbervie coastguard teams to the scene.
A Shetland coastguard spokesman said: “We received a request from Smoo Cave in Durness to a lady who had fallen and injured herself.
“She was seen to by a doctor on the scene, who was on holiday from Germany. Three coastguard rescue teams from Durness, Melvich and Kinlochbervie to the scene and we also requested the assistance of the ambulance service and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.”
Firefighters were dispatched to the scene at 3.57pm alongside paramedics to help rescue the woman from the cave.
She was eventually lifted out of the cave on a stretcher by emergency crews before being placed in the hands of paramedics.
