The Royal Dornoch Golf Club has played its first shot into the world of malt whisky.
The world-renowned club has licensed the use of its crest and tartan on a unique single malt, exclusively produced in the Highlands.
The nip has been created for the Carnegie Whisky Cellars in partnership with the golf club and is exclusively available from the specialist shop situated in the centre of Dornoch.
The new tipple has undergone extensive testing from the Carnegie Whisky Cellars’ own whisky club with members picking out the new malt as the top dram amid a blind tasting against five other well-known single malts.
The whisky comes in two bottles, with 70cl or 20cl bottles on offer adorned with the Royal Dornoch’s wildcat emblem and official tartan.
Neil Hampton, the club’s general manager, said: “Whisky and golf are two of Scotland’s greatest assets and go together naturally.
“We are delighted to partner with Carnegie Whisky Cellars in the first licensing deal of its kind involving the club’s crest and tartan. We hope it will be popular with golfers, whisky lovers and anyone with an interest in such a unique product.”
Michael Hanratty, general manager, the Carnegie Whisky Cellars, said: “We are proud to be associated with Royal Dornoch Golf Club in creating this specially- labelled single malt Scotch whisky, which will be a notable attraction for our customers.”
The golf club stretches back to 1877 with royal charter achieved in 1906.
