The Kirkwall creel boat was working off the Head of Holland in Orkney when it lost engine power. Kirkwall RNLI Lifeboat station deputy launching authority, Dougie Manson, received a distress call from the vessel shortly after noon. Following a quick briefing, coxswain Ali Cameron, alongside four fellow volunteers, boarded the lifeboat before launching to the scene at 12.40pm. The lifeboat pulled alongside the vessel at 12.55pm before swiftly establishing a tow line with the stricken vessel. It was then towed back to Kirkwall Harbour where it was safely tied up by 2pm. The rescue marks the seventh call-out for the Orkney-based lifeboat this year so far.
