A man was found to be asleep on the shores of Loch Morar after a large scale search operation was launched to trace him.
The man had been reported missing earlier today after he hadn’t been seen for a prolonged period, with reports suggesting he had been undertaking a spot of night-time fishing in the area.
Mallaig lifeboat was launched to conduct a sweep of the coast, with Salan, Kilchoan and Fort William coastguard teams also tasked to provide assistance at the request of Police Scotland.
A police spokesman said: “Concern had been raised for the lost fisherman after it was feared he may have waded into the water and hadn’t been seen.
“The alarm was raised and we made attempts to trace the fisherman.
“We managed to trace him safe and well after he was found sleeping at the side of an embankment.”
