Excitement is building for a Highland community as preparations for the Shieldaig Fete and Rowing Regatta this weekend reach full swing.
The event, which takes place on Saturday, raises money for village projects that support the local community and has become an annual fixture on the local calendar.
The regatta brings in live music and food and drink into the area, before culminating in the famous open-air ceilidh on the village’s shoreline.
And now event organisers have announced that the event will once again be sponsored by The Scottish Salmon Company, who have been the headline sponsor for the past five years of the event.
In total 12 clubs are expected to travel to Shieldaig to compete in the skiff regatta, with popularity along Scotland’s coastal communities growing since its inception in 2015.
Lisa O’Brien, chairwoman of the Shieldaig and Loch Torridon Coastal Rowing Club, said: “We are all looking forward to Saturday’s event where we will welcome other rowing teams to our yearly competition.
“Our rowing team has been committed to regular training sessions in preparation for the event as the competition continues to grow each year. We are looking forward to putting our hard work and dedication into practice.
“Good luck to all the teams!”
Craig Anderson, chief executive of The Scottish Salmon Company, said: “We are proud to have sponsored the Shieldaig Regatta since its revival in 2015.
“The hard work involved in the organisation and running of the event is recognised by the ongoing success of the competition which continues to grow year on year.
“We wish everyone involved the best of luck.”
