Former Liberal Democrat leader David Steel will deliver this year’s prestigious Charles Kennedy Lecture in memory of his late colleague.
Now Lord Steel of Aikwood, follows in the footsteps of Baron Jim Wallace, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, Lord Thurso and last year’s speaker, Alastair Campbell.
The former presiding officer of the Scottish Parliament will give his talk during Lochaber Ideas Week, running from November 18-22.
Speakers deliver personal lectures on topics of their choice that they feel strongly about.
Former Labour spin doctor Mr Campbell spoke of the importance of friendship in dealing with mental health and addiction.
Mr Kennedy was leader of the Liberal Democrats from 1999 to 2006, and a MP from 1983 to 2015, latterly for the Ross, Skye and Lochaber constituency. He died in 2015 aged 55.
The talk is part of Lochaber Chamber of Commerce’s flagship week of events.
